Hello,
My name is Dr. Iqbal; I am a family physician at Community First Health Centers in New Haven. Today, I want to talk to you about keeping your kids healthy and safe as many of you prepare to return to school. While these times are uncertain and we are all trying to figure out a way to get used to our new normal, there is still some excitement about going back to school.
I know many parents are apprehensive and have questions about sending their kids back to school safely. I want to make sure that our patients, and all parents, understand that our team is here to answer any questions or concerns you may have; and your family physicians, we can discuss your individual risk factors and options. We are here to help you make the most informed decision, based on your health, as possible.
While we currently have do not have a vaccine for COVID-19, we do have several other vaccines available that will protect children from other diseases that are almost eradicated, in addition to safety guidelines to help protect you and your family from contracting COVID-19. As we figure out how to be safe, I want to make sure we are doing everything to protect children from the diseases that we don’t often think about like chicken pox, measles, mumps, rubella, and polio. Vaccines are the reason why we don’t hear about those diseases.
We want to make sure that every child in our practice is up to date on their immunizations to prevent any of these illnesses from becoming an outbreak in our local communities. Please schedule a well visit with me or one of my colleagues to update immunizations and discuss any questions and concerns you might have.
Stay safe and healthy,
Dr. Iqbal
